The painter does not exist in a state where the gesture of the will stands over form, analyzing and prodding (dead) materials according to the dictates of the idea. The painter comes across the agency of materials as dynamic, living, resonating potentialities. Just as I do not really own the land that I have and I am instead a sort of caretaker of the land for a certain amount of time, so too as an artist I am the steward of forms rather than their dictator. It is not that one surrenders to the movement of form but that the gap between thought and nature converge. – To paint nature with the intuition about the fact that nature is painted about. What sensations lay in wait in that morphological resonance of the object under creation?
