A landscape that reflects itself. A moment that collapses the sensual and the intellectual. To see past the junk pile of the present into a single event – the nothing that is. Out of nothing comes a work, partly inaccessible, breaking with both past and future at the moment of concentration.
Three sculptures I never got around to posting on here. Each object is made from foam, latex paint, oil and polymerized siloxanes.
You don’t have to paint a figure in order to convey feeling. In abstraction, the aim is in organizing states of feeling. I am interested in abstraction but not in the sense of condensing particulars into sterilized forms, or of taking things out of the world in order to get at some supposed refined ‘Idea.’Continue reading “Abstraction in the World”
